Going to Alaska, Gonna Eat a Lot of Salmon…

Alright North West people, we love you all (well, most of you), but it’s time we made a pilgrimage to our birth mother, Alaska. We’re going to be trippin’ through glaciers and mountains and playing tag with polar bears. Most importantly, we’ll be playing for our homies and home people, friends and family, many of whom have shown us great support even though they’ve never seen us play live. Time to change that.

We’ve got one show May 26 at The Sheldon Community Arts Center in Talkeetna, the Trapper Creek Music Fest on May 27, then back to back dates at Alice’s Champagne Palace June 1/June 2 in Homer, not to mention (but I’m mentioning it) an all ages show in the works at The Yurt Village in Homer. And we’ve got some gigs hanging out with our parents too.

In other good news, we’re finally putting out some new material, which we’ll be recording all of July/August. Thanks can be directed to Daniel of Fringe Vintage. We’ve got some more Portland dates lined up to the left, if you want to save the date. Just don’t stand us up, we don’t handle rejection well.

Until then, mad love, and don’t worry, we’ll be back in July with music, smoked salmon, and roots and berries.

Music that makes you want to scream til you explode and/or make love to mountains.

We just got sponsored by the same brewery that brewed the first Oregon beer I ever drank, Ninkasi. That means that we will be drinking lots of Ninkasi beer on tour, and we got some badass t-shirts. If you haven’t tried their stuff, do it. We recommend either Tricerahops or Total Domination IPA.

If you want a multicultural experience, we are being streamed live for the entire month of April on Europe’s Radio Marabu on Don Campau’s show ‘No Pigeonholes’. You can stream the show via podcast on this link, anytime: http://doncampau.podomatic.com/.

What else do we have going on? Well, we’re ramping up for a slew of tours this summer. West coast in May, Alaska in June, and then we’re just gonna rock homebase for the month of July. Beyond that, we’re just doing amazing things that we can’t even talk about right now because you can’t even comprehend them. Yes. That is the life of Animal Eyes. That, and beers and MarioKart.

See y’all out there! Mad love.

You’ll see us running through the mountains with instruments on our backs…

So folks, the bad news is that we’ve decided to cancel our tour down to SXSW. We barely have enough money, and for some reason it’s difficult to book a tour when there’s at least 2,000 bands (for real. look at the southby lineup) booking at the same time. Sorry to all our friends in Austin, we love you so and eagerly await the day we have  a secret zipline that runs from the top of Mt. Hood to you. We’ll come back this summer.

HOWEVER!!!! THIS IS IMPORTANT SO READ IT:  There is great news for Oregon, Washington, and Boise (not the rest of Idaho, unless you come to Boise). We’ve got so many, so many shows within six hours of Portland, and in Portland. We’ve also begun to post dates for our NW regional mini-tour with our lovelies from The Bay, Fierce Creatures. They are so fucking good it makes me crazy. Watch out Bend, Eugene, Seattle, and everyone in between.

Check out the list to the right for a full list of our gigs, or skip over to www.facebook.com/animaleyesband to get immediate updates on all our crazed antics.

Also, we know many of you have expressed interest in living the thrilling lives of touring musicians vicariously through us, which is understandable. To make that possible, we created this little blog thang through Tumblr: http://animaleyesband.tumblr.com/. We hear many great bands and meet lots of good friends. Other than that, it’s mostly smelly, exhausting and awesome. We’ll be on one road or another from now til the day we die, so maybe we’ll see you out there, you beautiful goddam people.

our new friends in bend know how to throw it down. many thanks to all the great people that came out to rock with us. WOOT!

The past two weekends have been something special. We hopped over to Bend, Oregon to play for our first time, and our favorite part? We got a double dose. First weekend was with local pioneers Rural Demons, then a follow up with primal jazz masterminds Plum Sutra. Plus, our first big newspaper review! (Thank you Brianna!!)Blindsided by Rock: Animal Eyes offer up multifaceted dance music for the young at heart. The first night at The Horned Hand was an eye opener. Everyone at the show made us feel like we were at a comfy gathering back home in Alaska. With our hopes and dreams of playing Bend already loaded into a slingshot, then hurled by local Benders into the super sphere reality of AWSOME, we returned the next week at the Silvermoon Brewery to be welcomed with equal, if not intensified, amount-o-love. To put it simply: Bend, you rocked our face, thank you. We’ll be back to party wit y’all  at The Horned Hand soon…

Time to Kick Ass and Chew Gum… and I’m all out of Gum.

We got some good stuff brewing in Jan/Feb. Keeping it close to home, which is Portland now. That’s right. And it’s good to be here, goddamit. Check da gigs y’all locals. There’s a list to your right, and you can always go to www.facebook.com/animaleyesband to keep up to date on the hullabaloo.

That being said, we’re also branching out. We’ll be stretching our legs a bit, couple shows in Bend, one in Seattle, and we’re working on a sexy little regional mini tour in late February with our new friends from Fresno, The Fierce Creatures. Will keep you posted (all the dates also on the left). See you out there. Live, Love, and more Music!
